====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Please Call Senator Hutchison and Urge Her to Oppose the UN Disabilities Treaty Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, We just received word that the U.S. Senate will hold a straight up-or-down vote on ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on Tuesday, December 4. This past Monday, the U.S. Senate decided, by a vote of 61-36, to begin debate on ratification of the CRPD. Texas Senator Kay Hutchison was one of the 36 senators who opposed taking up the CRPD, but she is facing tremendous pressure from outside groups to vote for the treaty. Please contact Senator Kay Hutchison to thank her for her initial vote, and urge her to continue to stand against attacks on parental rights and intrusive United Nations treaties. Then, please forward this email to your friends and family in Texas and urge them to call as well. You can also post this information on social media to help get the word out to parents and freedom-loving people in Texas. Call Senator Hutchison at her Washington, D.C., office as well as one or more of her district offices. You may consider also sending an email http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=16354 or visiting a district office in person. Washington, D.C. Office 202-224-5922 Abilene Office 325-676-2839 Austin Office 512-916-5834 Dallas Office 214-361-3500 Houston Office 713-653-3456 San Antonio Office 210-340-2885 Please give her staff some or all of this message: "I urge you to oppose the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This treaty surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats and will threaten parental care of children with disabilities. Our nation already has laws to protect disabled Americans. This treaty is unnecessary and will hurt families. If the Senate ratifies this treaty, it would be the first time ever that the U.S. has ratified a treaty that obligates us to recognize economic, social, and cultural entitlements as rights under domestic law." Click here for more information on the dangers of this treaty http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=16355 . Your contact will make a difference. In the past few days, we have seen several other conservative senators who had been waffling on the CRPD come out and strongly oppose it - all because of the calls and emails they received from parents like you. Thank you for standing with us for freedom. Sincerely, James R. Mason III Senior Counsel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Will your children's inheritance retain its value?
