====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Please call Senator Ayotte and urge her to oppose UN Disabilities Treaty Dear HSLDA members and friends, As you know, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said that the Senate will take up the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), possibly as early as tomorrow or Thursday. Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm that one of your senators, Senator Kelly Ayotte, will oppose this treaty. Senator Ayotte never signed a letter - http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=16342 - that was signed by thirty-six U.S. Senators stating that they "respectfully request that no treaties be brought to the Senate floor for advice and consent during the lame-duck session of the 112th Congress." These Senators also promised in the letter that they "will oppose efforts to consider a treaty during this time." Senator Ayotte's silence on the CRPD is baffling and concerning. She is a top conservative leader in the Senate and her support on this issue is imperative. We need urgent calls to her office (even if you have already called) urging her to stand against the CRPD and protect U.S. sovereignty and parental rights. You can call her Washington, D.C. office as well as one or more of her district offices, and also email her: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=16338 . If you are able to visit a district office, that would also be wonderful. Washington, D.C. Office 202-224-3324 ---------------------------------------------------------- Manchester Office 603-622-7979 ---------------------------------------------------------- Nashua Office 603-880-3335 ---------------------------------------------------------- North Country Office 603-752-7702 ---------------------------------------------------------- Portsmouth Office 603-436-7161 ---------------------------------------------------------- Please give her staff some or all of this message: "I urge you to oppose the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This treaty surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats and will threaten parental care of children with disabilities. Our nation already has laws to protect disabled Americans. This treaty is unnecessary and will hurt families. If the Senate ratifies this treaty, it would be the first time ever that the U.S. has ratified a treaty that obligates us to recognize economic, social, and cultural entitlements as rights under domestic law." Then, please forward this email to your friends and family in New Hampshire and urge them to call as well. Please also post this information on social media to help get the word out to parents and freedom-loving people in New Hampshire. For more information on the dangers of this treaty please visit our CRPD page: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=16339 Your contacts will make a difference. In the past few hours, we have seen several other conservative Senators who had been waffling on the CRPD come out and strongly oppose it - all because of the calls and emails they received from parents like you. Thank you for standing with us for freedom. Sincerely, Mike Smith President, HSLDA ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> How many news articles did you read this morning over your oatmeal?
