====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Freedom Isn't Free--Bring Your Family to the Capitol Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Homeschoolers know more than anyone that freedom isn't free. By participating in the Homeschool Family Day at the Capitol you will be working to put a face to our movement which is an important support to preserving our freedom. When legislators get to know homeschool families they understand why it doesn't make sense to impose additional regulations on us. A trip to the Capitol is also a fun family field trip, especially during an election year. I will also be attending as part of the program and look forward to meeting many of you and your families. The Home Education League of Michigan (HELM) is sponsoring the event from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the state Capitol in Lansing. The day's highlights include a guided tour of the Capitol, a legislative luncheon with elected officials from around the state, opportunities to observe the legislative session, attend committee meetings, participate in workshops, and more. Space is limited and registration is required, so please take a moment to let the organizers know you are coming--and invite your friends as well. The registration fee of $8 per person with an optional $5 for a catered lunch is a small investment in our precious freedom. For more information, visit the HELM website here: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=15612 Thank you for your support, as we could not advance homeschool freedom without you. If you or someone you know is not a member of HSLDA, will you consider taking a moment today to join or recommend us and support our work defending individual families threatened by government officials and protecting homeschooling freedom for all? Very truly yours, Michael P. Donnelly, Esq. HSLDA Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Extreme makeovers are for extreme circumstances... Most homeschools don't need an extreme makeover, but there is something to be said for attention to detail and recognition of accomplishments. Watch the media and you'll soon see that not everyone wants home educators and homeschooling to look good. HSLDA works hard to shed light on the good work of home educators so it's obvious that we don't need someone "making-over" our homeschools. Join HSLDA and help us show the world that we're fine as we are . . . thank you!
