====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== CHEA Convention--Still Time to Register Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: There is still time to register at the door for the Christian Home Educators Association (CHEA) of California's 29th Annual Christian Homeschool Convention on July 12-14 at the Pasadena Convention in Pasadena. Back by popular demand, Dr. Voddie Baucham, Jr., leads the lineup as keynote speaker. Dr. Baucham is an author, nationally known speaker, professor, pastor, and homeschooling father from Houston, Texas. Baucham graduated from Southwestern and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminaries and has also studied at the University of Oxford. Joining Dr. Baucham as keynote speakers are Jessica Hulcy of Konos Curriculum and Ray Comfort, evangelist and co-host of The Way of the Master. Heidi St. John and Jessica Thompson are featured speakers. The annual convention also includes more than 60 workshops for beginners and veterans. A Teen Convention and a Children's Convention are offered for students ages 4 to 18. A Christian comedian will perform for free Family Entertainment Night on Friday, July 13. CHEA is hosting a first-ever homeschool graduation ceremony during the convention. The ceremony will be held in the historic Pasadena Civic Auditorium. J. Michael Smith, president of Home School Legal Defense Association, will be the commencement speaker. On Saturday evening the Ultimate Giveaway will be held. Everyone registered for the convention gets an opportunity to win at no extra cost. Parents of preschoolers (whose oldest child is 5 years old or younger and have never attended a CHEA Convention) may attend one day of the Convention as CHEA's guest.
