====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== California: Voter Registration Deadline is Monday ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joint Newsflash--May 18, 2012 From: Mike Smith, HSLDA and Roy Hanson, Family Protection Ministries ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: California Voter Registration Deadline is this Monday, May 21, 2012 As the California Secretary of State puts it, "The strength of our democracy depends on the willingness of our citizens to help choose the people who will lead us, and to make our voices heard on issues of importance to the future of our state and nation." To vote in the June 5 primary election, you must complete a voter registration form and mail it to your county elections office. Your request to register to vote must be postmarked by May 21. To get a voter registration form, (1) call your county elections office (their number is listed in your phone book); (2) call the secretary of state at (800) 345-8683; or (3) go to http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=14769 and print the form. Again, your voter registration form must be mailed to your county elections office and postmarked by May 21. If you have moved or changed your name since the last election in which you voted, you will have to register again to be eligible to vote on June 5. If you are registered, you should already have received official voter information from your county elections office. To vote by mail, your request for a ballot must be received by your county elections office by May 29. Ballots can be hand delivered to any polling place on June 5, or must be mailed in time to be received at your county elections office by 8:00 p.m. June 5. To vote is to put your oar of responsibility in the waters of decision-making. To not vote is to let leave your family's future entirely to those who are "pulling on their oars."
