Help a Freshman Attend Patrick Henry College The Home School Foundation's heart of giving does not stop when students graduate from high school. Every spring, HSF gives college scholarships to incoming freshmen from HSLDA member families who are planning to attend Patrick Henry College http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=14740 in Purcellville, Virginia.* These scholarships are based on financial need, academic merit, and participation in community service. Katy Tipton, one of the PHC scholarship recipients from last year, said that the HSF scholarship covered the remaining money she needed to raise in order to attend PHC that fall. "Receiving the Home School Foundation Scholarship not only blessed me and my family in a financial respect, but the Lord used the scholarship to confirm His faithfulness. I am so thankful to the Home School Foundation for allowing the Lord to use them to make this first year at Patrick Henry College possible for me and several other freshmen," she said. PHC, a Christian liberal arts college, has a unique outreach to homeschool graduates--many of whom come from single-income families, which can make it financially difficult when it comes to saving for college. PHC has a commitment to not accepting federal aid, ruling out a number of potential scholarships for students who must seek elsewhere to support their educational endeavors.
