====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Action Needed to Preserve the Family! Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Your calls are making a difference. Senate Bill 130 has been laid over again by the Colorado Senate. The bill is currently scheduled for a second reading this Friday, March 16. If you have not already done so, please contact your state senator and ask him or her to oppose this bill. SB 130 creates the office of early childhood and youth development in the Department of Human Services, which would increase government control over early learning, child health, child mental health, and family support and parent education. Efforts to increase government control over early childhood education are often a precursor to expanding the compulsory school attendance age. HSLDA opposes this bill because of its excessive government interference into the family. You can find your state senator's name and contact information here: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=14050 Please give the following message in your own words: "Please oppose SB 130. This bill increases government control over families. Parents--not the government--know what's best for their families. I oppose increasing the Department of Human Services' authority over early learning, child health, child mental health, and family support and parent education."
