====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Rhode Island--Help Reverse Onerous New Demands in East Greenwich The new policy is an immediate threat to your freedom to homeschool your children. Dear HSLDA members and friends in East Greenwich: Without even talking to the families who would be affected, the East Greenwich school committee rushed through a major homeschool policy change while you were resting over Christmas and New Years! Now we need your help to turn the tide. Some of the unreasonable new demands are itemized below. Every homeschool family will find its burden increased, and its privacy invaded, if this policy is not immediately suspended and a task force appointed to develop an alternative policy based on consensus. Creating a major new policy with no notice to those affected, without the consent of the governed, over the biggest holiday season of the year--virtually in the dark of the night--should not be tolerated. ACTION REQUESTED Please call every member of the East Greenwich school committee (phone numbers below). Ask them to immediately suspend the new policy and appoint a task force made up of homeschool parents and school representatives to create a new consensus-based policy. Send this email to other homeschool families you know in East Greenwich. We need the help of every East Greenwich homeschool family!
