====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Board of Supervisors Tables Daytime Curfew Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Facing significant public opposition, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors has decided to put off adopting a proposed daytime curfew. Unfortunately, the Board has not abandoned its effort to enact the curfew; instead, it now appears that there will be several public hearings before the proposed ordinance is voted on. Many homeschool parents and other opponents of the curfew showed up and testified at last Tuesday's hearing, which led the Board to slow down its march to the daytime curfew, a measure the Board claims to be part of its effort to combat truancy. Local news outlets have opposed the ordinance, including the San Luis Obispo Tribune. Read the Tribune's editorial >> http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=13461 HSLDA encourages all parents, not just homeschoolers, to get involved with the fight to defeat the proposed curfew. Although the ordinance attempts to exempt homeschoolers from being prosecuted, this exemption does not keep the police from stopping children who are out in public during school hours. A strong opposition at the public hearings is essential to protect your liberties. Our volunteer coordinator for opposing the daytime curfew ordinance is Mikhail Ganage. He can be reached via email at mgannage@gmail.com or by phone at (805) 434-3043. Thank you for standing with us for freedom! Darren A. Jones, Esq. HSLDA Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Have you ever yelled into the wind, only to hear the sound of your voice blown back at you? It's hard to be heard in the midst of a storm. Trying to influence federal legislation is much like yelling to be heard while standing in a fierce wind. Yet when 80,000 voices join together, they become a powerful force that cannot be drowned out. Join HSLDA to be heard above the tempests that threaten homeschool freedoms.
