====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Nebraska Legislature Now in Session Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, The 2012 Nebraska Legislative Session began this morning. Throughout the session, January 4- April 12, 2012, we will be scanning bills to determine whether to support or oppose proposed legislation affecting homeschool families. We expect to see legislation introduced to improve the homeschooling climate in Nebraska. HSLDA has learned that Senator Beau McCoy is working on a bill to amend Nebraska's recently changed truancy law that has contributed to increased truancy prosecution against homeschoolers. Second, we hope to see another attempt to remove the requirement that both parent sign exempt school paperwork. Nebraska and Vermont are the only states that require two signatures on paperwork, causing difficulties for single parents who wish to homeschool.
