====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Idaho--Pocatello Update Dear HSLDA Members and Friends; After the Pocatello-Chubbuck public school district approved a policy unlawfully denying homeschoolers access to its programs unless the child spends at least 150 minutes daily in school, we learned from the Idaho State Department of Education that the premise of the policy--that the district would not get state money for a student attending fewer than 150 minutes--was wrong. There have recently been discussions between representatives of the school system and representatives of the state on this issue. I believe the school system now understands that they were simply incorrect in believing they could not get state money for a homeschooler taking only one class or activity. I am optimistic that there will be an announcement soon that they plan to change their policy. Hopefully this time the policy will conform to state law.
