Georgia: School Social Worker Harasses Family Home School Legal Defense Association intervened when a school social worker made unlawful demands regarding a family's notice of intent to begin homeschooling. Connecticut: Windsor Insists on Use of its Own Form At the beginning of this school year, HSLDA assisted two member families when the assistant superintendent of the public school insisted that they use the school's version of a notice of intent form to commence a home instruction program. Illinois: St. Francis Nursing Drops GED Demand HSLDA contacted a nursing school on behalf of member family whose son was being asked to take the GED as a requirement for admission. Not long afterward, the college changed its policy and dropped the demand. Tennessee: Difficulty in Maury County Even after a family had followed the normal procedure for withdrawing their daughter from public school in order to begin homeschooling, public school officials threatened them with legal action and more. Rhode Island: Chariho to Stop Publishing Homeschool Family Names After being contacted by HSLDA, a public school committee agreed to stop printing in public records names and other information about homeschooling families.
