Virginia--Committee Hearing on Sports Access Bill Sept. 6

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

Delegate Rob Bell's HB 2395, a bill that would give homeschoolers
access to public school sports, is set for a legislative hearing on
Tuesday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m. in House Room D in the General
Assembly Building in Richmond.

We have reviewed the bill and concluded that it will not cause
problems for families who do not wish to participate in public school
sports.

A number of other states already allow homeschoolers access to public
school sports. Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow of Florida is one
high-profile example of the results of homeschoolers participating in
public school sports.

HSLDA neither opposes nor supports the bill. However, if you wish, you
can show your support for the bill by marking your calendar and
attending the September 6 hearing, and possibly even testifying.

Del. Bell has invited those wishing to attend the hearing to meet with
him and other supporters of the bill from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in House
Room 5 West (fifth floor, General Assembly Building). This would
provide an opportunity for those who support the bill to talk and
possibly coordinate their plans before the hearing starts at 10:00
a.m.

Sincerely,

Scott Woodruff
HSLDA Senior Counsel
