====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== South Dakota--Multiplying Confusion on Form Dear HSLDA Members: The South Dakota Department of Education recently made a change to the homeschool form apparently without checking with the homeschool community first. As a result, we have another "blooper" to deal with. The form on the Department's website as of August 17 includes this line, which appears to be an instruction to parents: "Send one copy to the SD Department of Education 800 Governors Dr., Pierre, SD 57501. Provide one copy to parent/guardian." You do not need to send a copy of the form to the state. That is the school system's job. You are not obligated to give yourself a copy of the form (though it's a good idea). We will be contacting the Department to encourage them to fix this problem. In the meantime, you have the option of using the homeschool form available to you on the member's only section of our website at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=12102 .
