====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Only Three Days Left to Sign up for GenJ Camp! Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Would you like your child to learn how our government works through a hands-on experience and not simply from a textbook? Then consider having him or her attend Generation Joshua's iGovern West Summer Leadership Camp. iGovern West is a one-of-a kind weeklong Christian leadership program that gives your student hands-on experience in dealing with the legislative and executive branches of our government. Through the mock legislature, your child will draft legislation, create party platforms, engage political insiders to gain support, debate issues, and may run for higher office. Within this dynamic scenario, your student will learn what it really means to live in a free society. iGovern West will take place August 14-20 at scenic Eagle Lake, near Colorado Springs, CO. Eagle Lake is approximately a 6-hour drive from Albuquerque and just over 5 hours from Santa Fe. With the intense hands-on experience your child will gain, I recommend that iGovern be considered a full high school credit of civics and government for your child's transcript. With over 60 hours of teaching and activities, your child is sure to enjoy the camp while learning how the U.S. government works. The cost to attend is $600 (includes lodging, food, also transportation to and from Colorado Springs Airport). However, if your family is an HSLDA member, active/retired military, or involved in full-time ministry, you will receive a special $100 discount, bringing the cost down to $500 for the week! The July 15 deadline for regular registration is fast approaching. After July 15, there will be a $50 expedited processing fee. Don't wait to take advantage of this incredible opportunity! Sign up online at: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=11777 Or by calling GenJ's office at: (540)-338-8608 Sincerely, Thomas J. (Tj) Schmidt Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Can you look at the clouds and tell the direction of the wind? An interesting phenomenon of wind is that it can blow in multiple directions at the same time, at different heights from the ground. But usually there is a prevailing wind. HSLDA watches the gusts and monitors the prevailing trends of change in the legal climate of home education. So no matter which way the wind is blowing, we're there to protect your family.
