====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Illinois--Compulsory School Age Increase Bill Rebuffed Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, HB 2985, a bill that would place young people under compulsory education for an additional year, has suffered a significant blow. After HSLDA asked families to make phone calls to oppose the bill, the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee allowed an important deadline to pass with no action on the bill. As a result, it was sent back to the House Rules Committee. While it is unlikely that the bill will receive any further attention, HSLDA will continue to monitor it, as well as other bills that could affect the rights of Illinois homeschoolers.
