June 14, 2011 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: The Christian Home Educators of Kentucky (CHEK) 2011 Family and Homeschool Conference is just around the corner and we hope you have made plans to attend! The annual CHEK Conference will be held in Louisville on June 24-25 and is filled with exciting programs and speakers for the whole family. If you have never been to the CHEK Conference, you don't want to miss out on your opportunity to spend a great weekend focused on your family and your home education program. This day and a half day conference will encourage you, challenge you, and provide hours of shopping with approximately 50 venders for your homeschool curriculum needs. Additionally, your attendance helps protect homeschool freedom in Kentucky through the support of CHEK. We believe strong state homeschool organizations are needed to help support homeschooling day in and day out. The keynote speaker this year is Ken Ham, President and CEO of Answers in Genesis. Ken will be speaking on interesting and relevant topics both days. As always, Ken's emphasis is on the relevance and authority of the book of Genesis to the life of the average Christian, and how compromise on Genesis has opened a dangerous door regarding how the culture and church view biblical authority. HSLDA staff attorney for Kentucky, Tj Schmidt, will be at the conference as well. Tj will share on the state of homeschooling in Kentucky and beyond as well as his personal courtship story.
