====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Kansas: Calls No Longer Needed About University Admissions June 9, 2011 Dear Kansas Members and Friends, Thank you for your faxes and calls! The Kansas Board of Regents has agreed to change the proposed regulations to address our concerns. No more calls or faxes are needed, and we are no longer recommending that you come to the hearing on Monday. The Board of Regents has agreed that their proposed regulations will be changed so that, for guaranteed admission to a Kansas state public university, a homeschool graduate does not need a specific grade point average and does not need five AP courses or five college courses. Students entering by guaranteed admission starting in 2015 will need an ACT of 21, a grade point average of 2.0 on transferrable college classes they have taken, and the equivalent of the Board of Regents precollege curriculum. For details on what this contains, see our link to the Board of Regents minutes for December 2010 in our last email. We believe these requirements will not be problematic in the long run. Between now and 2015, the only requirement for guaranteed admission for a graduate of a non-accredited private school (i.e. a homeschool) is an ACT score of 21. Thank you for standing with us for freedom! Sincerely, Scott Woodruff HSLDA Senior Counsel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Will your friends stand by you in trouble?
