====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== North Dakota--Homeschool Bill Becomes Law Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: On April 4, 2011, Governor Jack Dalrymple signed into law House Bill 1211, making permanent the temporary improvements to the homeschool law enacted in 2009. This means that there will be no monitoring of home education programs by a state-certified teacher so long as the parent has a high school diploma or GED. Additionally, parents will continue to have the flexibility of providing the instruction at some location other than their home. We rejoice with the homeschoolers of North Dakota over this good news! Over the years, parents have continued to persuade state legislators to gradually loosen restrictions on their right to teach their children at home. We expect this trend to continue as home educators demonstrate that such oversight is unnecessary to success.
