====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Colorado: Your Attendance Needed at the 2011 Homeschool Day at the Capitol! Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Once again, it's that time of year when Christian Home Educators of Colorado invites all homeschool families to attend the Homeschool Day at the Capitol, this Thursday, April 7. Experience history as you watch a reenactment of the second Virginia Convention, hear Patrick Henry's speech, and participate in a variety of other events geared toward celebrating liberty. Activities will also include a march around the Capitol, a rally on the west steps of the Capitol, and a citizen lobbyist workshop. Mike Farris, co-founder of HSLDA and President of Patrick Henry College, will be speaking at the rally on the newest threats to freedom. Doors will open at 9 a.m. at the Pillar of Fire Church, located at 1340 Sherman Street in Denver, one block from the Capitol. The church is easy to find, with three parking lots nearby. The Home School Legal Defense Association strongly encourages as many families as possible to attend this event. Not only can you turn the event into an educational field trip for your children, but you will be making a positive impact on your legislators by dispelling negative myths about homeschool families in your face-to-face meetings. To ensure you meet with your legislators, please plan ahead and make an appointment with your legislator or send them a note of encouragement near the day of the event.
