-> Can you look at the clouds and tell the direction of the wind?

An interesting phenomenon of wind is that it can blow in multiple
directions at the same time, at different heights from the ground.
But usually there is a prevailing wind. HSLDA watches the gusts
and monitors the prevailing trends of change in the legal climate
of home education. So no matter which way the wind is blowing,
we're there to protect your family.

3. Parental Rights: Congratulations on "Our" New Baby

A Nevada police officer threatened to arrest the parents of a newborn
when they tried to take their child home from the hospital over the
objections of a nurse there. A pediatrician offering a second opinion
had told the couple they could treat the child for suspected jaundice
at home. The incident illustrates the need for more clearly defined
parental rights.

4. California: Certified Teacher to be Investigated

HSLDA helped a family begin homeschooling despite a public school

qualifications to teach.

5. Colorado: District Distributes Inaccurate Homeschool Forms

Contrary to what one school district requested, homeschoolers do not
have to use local forms or provide more information than the law
requires when filing a notice of intent.

6. Homeschooled Legislators--Know Any?

HSLDA is conducting a survey on the impact of homeschooling on
politics at the state level. We are seeking information regarding the
number of state legislators who are homeschooled. Ultimately we'd
like to send them a short survey. First we have to find them. Your
help is vital if we are to continue to advance the cause of
homeschooling. By gaining insight into how homeschooling is affecting
state legislatures, HSLDA can be more effective in advocating for you
and your family! If you know a state homeschooled legislator, please
take 10 seconds to click the link below and provide just four pieces
of information to help us take the next step. Thank you for your
help!
