====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Iowa--Capitol Day, March 23, Crucial This Year Dear Iowa Members and Friends, Please come to the Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators (NICHE) Homeschool Day at the Capitol on Wednesday. The NICHE capitol day this year is especially crucial because of two highly important bills that are about to face a test in the senate: parent-taught driver ed and the Independent Private Instruction bill, which would create a new and far simpler way to homeschool. When you come to the event, you will be trained in the morning, so you can take a message in support of these excellent bills to your senator in the afternoon. This event also features a simply outstanding list of speakers, including U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who has been mentioned as a presidential candidate. Have no doubt: your presence--and the presence of a mighty contingent of homeschool families--can sway votes in favor of freedom. While the recent election infused the house with new blood in the form of representatives who value liberty, the senate still contains many who think almost everything can be improved by just increasing government control. Your presence Wednesday is a key to helping them reconsider that idea.
