====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Vermont--Victory: Senate Pulls Proposed Home Study Changes Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, You did it! The Senate Education Committee decided to pull the proposed changes to the Vermont home study law, for now. While the battle is not over, this is a great victory. Thanks to all of you who took action and contacted members of the Senate Education Committee. Senators reported that they received many contacts from homeschoolers. As a result, the committee has requested that the commissioner begin communications with homeschoolers and advocates, such as Retta Dunlap, to come up with language that will be amenable to all parties. HSLDA has been told that the commissioner has agreed to include the whole homeschooling community in this discussion. A homeschool day at the State House is being planned and is tentatively scheduled for March 29, at 10:00 a.m., so mark your calendars. HSLDA encourages families to attend this event in order to help demonstrate that the movement for home education freedom in Vermont is alive and well. If you are interested in attending, please contact Retta Dunlap at vhen@comcast.net with your name, email, and phone number from at least one adult in your group/family. Also, please let Retta know if you are available to assist with the event. Thank you for working with us to preserve homeschooling freedom in Vermont! It is privilege to serve you and your families! Sincerely, Michael P. Donnelly, Esq. HSLDA Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> You can only do so much... No one can be everywhere at once.
