====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== New Hampshire: Take Action to Protect Your Family from False Allegations! Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, House Bill 506 would create a misdemeanor if a person knowingly makes a false allegation of child abuse or neglect. The bill, sponsored by Representative Paul Ingbretson, protects families from malicious reports of child abuse or neglect. By making such reports misdemeanors punishable by no less than 6 months probation and one year mandatory counseling, for the first offense, and 6 months imprisonment for subsequent offenses, people will be less likely to make reports that are malicious or false. HB 506 has been referred to the Children and Family Law Committee, and there is a public hearing on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. in Legislative Office Building (LOB) 206. Please take action, as requested below, to support this change that would help support family integrity and freedom in New Hampshire. ACTION REQUESTED 1) If you are able, attend the hearing on Thursday, March 3, and consider testifying. The hearing will be at 11:30 a.m. in LOB 206. 2) Please contact members of the House Children and Family Law Committee and urge them to support HB 506. Please convey the following message, but be sure to use your own words: "Please support HB 506. This bill would establish a penalty for those who make malicious false allegations against parents. It would protect parental rights and family integrity without impairing the current protections that are in place for children." Because this bill affects all parents with children, you do not need to identify yourself as a homeschooler. If your last name begins with A-L, contact representatives 1-9. If your last name begins with M-Z, contact representatives 10-17. Contact information for members of the committee is below: 1.
