====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Montana -- Calls Needed to Support Parental Rights Amendment Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Your calls are needed to support the passage of a joint resolution of the Montana Senate and House of Representatives favoring the Parental Rights Amendment to the United States Constitution. Senate Joint Resolution 9 urges the members of the United States Congress to submit the Parental Rights Amendment to the states for ratification. SJ 9 passed the Montana Senate Judiciary Committee last week by the narrow margin of 7-5. It will now be considered by the full Senate. Your state senator needs to know how important this legislation is to Montana families. The Parental Rights Amendment will add explicit text to the Constitution of the United States to protect in perpetuity the fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. Recent federal court cases have created confusion and ambiguity about the fundamental nature of parental rights in America. ACTION REQUESTED 1. Please call and/or email your state senator with this message or something similar in your own words: "Please vote for Senate Joint Resolution 9, which urges the United States Congress to submit the Parental Rights Amendment to the states for ratification. The Parental Rights Amendment is needed to protect the fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children." When calling your senator, do not identify yourself as a homeschooler. This issue affects all Montana families.
