Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Yesterday the South Dakota House of Representatives overwhelmingly put their stamp of approval on HB 1133, which would abolish the state's archaic "approval" provisions for homeschoolers. On a 63 to 4 vote, the bill now heads to committee in the Senate, then the Senate floor. Thank you for your calls to representatives! Final enactment of HB 1133 would allow South Dakota to join the 48 other states which treat homeschooling as simply another educational option by not requiring any form of prior government approval or permission. ACTION REQUESTED None at this time. When the bill officially reaches committee in the Senate, we will ask for calls in support. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Our sincere appreciation goes to Rep.
