Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, The 2011 New Mexico Legislative Session is now under way. Throughout the session, January 18-March 19, 2011, HSLDA will be tracking legislation and scanning bills to determine whether to support or oppose proposed changes affecting New Mexico homeschoolers. We are blessed to work with Christian Association of Parent Educators New Mexico (CAPE-NM), and encourage homeschoolers to support CAPE through membership and participation in their annual statewide conference and curriculum fair. CAPE is an invaluable partner, and together we are working to preserve your freedoms. ACTION One exciting way that you can participate in protecting home education freedom in New Mexico and learn more about the legislature is to attend the CAPE at the Capitol event! This year's event will be on February 10 during Home Education Week. The whole family is welcome to come and learn more about New Mexico government and history, while being ambassadors for home education. The more homeschool families legislators get to know, the more likely they are to protect homeschool freedom. Make your plans now to attend the 15th annual CAPE at the Capitol event.
