====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Illinois--Daytime Curfew Threat Defeated! Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Thank you for helping defeat the proposed Carlinville daytime curfew! The huge crowd of freedom-loving folks who came to Monday's council meeting helped convince 5 aldermen to vote "no", and amidst cheers the proposal went down to defeat by a vote of 5 to 3. Thank you! Your quick and enthusiastic response protected freedom. These three aldermen voted to take away your freedom in defiance of the will of the people: Mark Stark, Brian Mitchell, and Sonny Albertine. They probably think you will forget about this before the next election. I hope you will prove them wrong. Our e-lert erroneously listed two individuals as aldermen who actually are not: JR Levora and James Suter. We apologize for this error and any inconvenience it caused them. The state homeschool organization Illinois Christian Home Educators helped spread the word about the ordinance. Thank you! We also thank Terri Koyne for her help. HSLDA prepared a letter to the council and a legal brief. Terri read the letter at the meeting and delivered the brief. More importantly, Terri was the one who warned us of the proposed ordinance. We encourage families all over Illinois to keep an eye on their city and county governments and spread the word if any new daytime curfew ordinances pop up. For issues like this at the city and county level, we rely on your vigilance! Sincerely, Scott Woodruff HSLDA Senior Counsel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> You can get a little latte or a lotta legal.
