====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Hawaii: Make Your Plans Now to Attend the 2011 CHOH Conference! Dear Members and Friends; If you haven't already made plans to attend the 2011 Christian Homeschoolers of Hawaii (CHOH) Conference in March, now is the time to pre-register for an event filled with great speakers and exhibitors--and save yourself some money! If your registration form is postmarked by February 4, you will save $20 off the price at the door for you and your spouse and $5 off for each teen in your family. The theme for the 2011 Conference is "No Turning Back." The keynote speaker is homeschool graduate, author, and "Home School Digest" columnist Israel Wayne. Israel will be speaking on "Homeschooling: Preference or Conviction?" and "What About Socialization?" as well as presenting numerous workshops throughout the conference. Learn more about the CHOH Conference and print out a registration form at: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=10003. If you have never been to the CHOH Conference, you don't want to miss out on your opportunity to spend a great weekend focused on your family and your homeschool program. This two-day conference will encourage you, challenge you, and provide hours of shopping for your homeschool curriculum needs. Besides Israel Wayne, Diane Kummer will be the featured workshop speaker. She will present multiple workshops geared at helping parents' homeschool through the high school years. As one of HSLDA's high school coordinators, Diane has many years of experience speaking on high school issues. HSLDA's staff attorney for Hawaii, Tj Schmidt, will also be there to share about homeschooling issues in Hawaii and across the county, as well as to talk about the Parental Rights Amendment. For your teens, the 2011 CHOH Conference Teen Track is being led by Julie Hiramine with Generations of Virtue. Julie and her GOV team will incorporate ice breakers, object lessons, and relevant media into her session that will equip and encourage your young people. It is vitally important that the homeschool community in Hawaii remain strong and vibrant in order to protect and enlarge homeschool freedoms. Without the leadership and support of a statewide homeschool support network like CHOH, homeschoolers in Hawaii could lapse into complacency or be unprepared for a full scale attack on our right to teach our children at home. In fact, this year the Hawaii State Board of Education is going to try to amend the regulations affecting homeschool families, so it is more important than ever that you help support CHOH. Your attendance at the 2011 Christian Homeschoolers of Hawaii Conference will refresh you and your family in your homeschooling endeavors while also supporting CHOH in their service to the homeschool community. Please plan now to attend the 2011 CHOH Conference March 4-5. View and print off your 2011 CHOH Conference registration form: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=10004 . When you come to the CHOH conference, be sure and stop by the Home School Legal Defense Association table and say "Hi." As a special bonus, if you join or renew at the CHOH conference you'll receive special discounts, gift certificates, and other possible rewards. Bring a friend to our table--members get a $10 coupon when they refer a friend who joins! We look forward to seeing you at the 2011 CHOH Conference on March 4-5! Sincerely, Thomas J. (Tj) Schmidt HSLDA Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Will your children's inheritance retain its value? If you pass on a legacy of freedom, your children and their children's children will thank you. But freedom is never secure; it must always be guarded. Membership with HSLDA is an investment in the future that can be passed on to future generations of families wanting to teach their children at home.
