~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Home School Foundation Report ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Friends of the Home School Foundation, The holiday season is already upon us! And with it comes so many opportunities to bless others and be a witness of Christ's love. In this issue we share different ways to bless other needy homeschool families and bless your family as well! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Because You Helped We serve families who readily express their gratitude. Here are just a few of the notes that testify to the power of your gifts and prayers: "As we entered into another school year we felt a little hopeless because we knew that we did not have the resources needed to purchase books for our girls. But the Home School Foundation gave us hope!" --Jermaine and Raquel R., Compassion Fund "Thank you so graciously for the donation for our daughter's curriculum and supplies for the 2010-2011 homeschool year. Without it, we do not know what we would have done. My husband had been out of work, and I am disabled. We could not have provided her needs without this grant. I had homeschooled on a 'shoestring budget' last year and it was my first year attempting to homeschool. This year we couldn't have even done that. Your organization is truly a blessing. When we get back on our feet, we would love to help another family in need." --Dawn S., Curriculum Relief "We are so grateful for the scholarship we received from the Special Needs Children's Fund. This has indeed given us cause to continue to hope in the Lord. He has done exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think." --Lynn S., Special Needs Children Fund "Thank you so much for the scholarship you granted me for curriculum. What a blessing it was to be able to purchase my daughter's school work without wondering how to pay for it. When the box arrived, we were both overjoyed. Thank you so much for your generosity in this most difficult time." --Lisa B., Widows Fund ---------------------------------------------------------------------- News: Give an Unexpected Gift this Christmas! We now have eight State Ambassadors, six Community Ambassadors, and multiple Service Ambassadors all around the country. The Ambassador Program is a network of dedicated volunteers all over the country making a difference at the local level, aiding families so they can continue to homeschool through hard times. The first Ambassador project was completed in August, helping a single mom renovate her home and yard. Watch a video of the first Ambassador project: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=9682 Or view pictures: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=9683 If you are interested in volunteering or want to find out more about the Ambassador Program, check out the Ambassador webpage at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=9684 and Facebook page at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=9685 . ---------------------------------------------------------------------- News: Homeschool Christmas Cards for Sale If sending friends and family greeting cards is part of your Christmas tradition, consider these attractive options from the Home School Foundation. Profits from the cards will be donated to the Home School Foundation Compassion Fund. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- News: Combined Federal Campaign Donations You may not know that the Home School Foundation is a qualified charity for the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC No. 10535). If you are looking for a charity to designate donations for CFC or perhaps know a military or government family who would be interested, we hope you will consider the Home School Foundation for the 2010 campaign and even pass the word along to others. The number of families applying to us for help grows every year, and it is only through donations from compassionate homeschooling families that we are able to help them. Thank you for considering the Home School Foundation for your designated CFC giving (CFC No. 10535). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- News: Homeschool Contests Help Special Needs Children HSLDA sponsors contests for homeschool kids all year round: essay, art, photo, video, poetry, etc. And the proceeds from these contests go to help the Home School Foundation's Special Needs Fund http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=9699 . Consequently, we want to promote these opportunities for homeschool students to develop their skills and abilities and give to needy homeschoolers at the same time. You can help us by encouraging your family and friends to participate and get the word out about upcoming contests. You can find out all about the contests at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=9687 . We greatly appreciate your partnership in this project that promotes excellence and blesses the needy! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Give to HSF while Christmas Shopping: CLICKS for Homeschooling Here's a great way to help homeschoolers any time you shop online: purchase materials from a company that gives to the Home School Foundation. "This is what you have exhibited and done by granting us the ability to purchase school curricula. You have enabled my children to learn in an environment of true freedom." Homeschooling is difficult enough without adding abandonment, abuse, and other hard family circumstances to the mix. Single parents and their children trying to homeschool face enormous difficulties. HSF is dedicated to helping single parents who are committed to their children, to homeschooling, and to the Lord. "After two years of homeschooling, I was at my end," Heather continued. "I stood believing, but not seeing, how it would be possible to continue homeschooling my now 9th and 10th graders at the academic levels and with the fullness of opportunity they deserve, being a single mother and recent college graduate, struggling to find steady work."
