====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Rhode Island--Chariho Update Dear HSLDA Members and Friends in Chariho: It is now more urgent than ever that you call, email, visit and write school board members: they have placed the locator card issue on their agenda for September 28! We must convince them before September 28 that forcing locator cards on homeschoolers is both unlawful and very bad policy. ACTION REQUESTED 1. If you live in Chariho, plan to attend the school committee meeting September 28 at 7 p.m., in the middle school library. Bring well-behaved kids! It would be tremendously helpful--but certainly not a requirement--if you would email Sandy Swenson at sandy@ssrb.us to confirm that you are coming to the meeting. 2. Some homeschoolers don't know about this situation. Please talk to your homeschool friends and make sure they know what's going on, and how much we need their help. 3. If you live in Chariho, keep calling, writing, emailing and visiting until you have contacted each and every school committee member. Homeschoolers may be few in number, but hard work and persistence will make sure our message is heard! 4. If you are contacted by a truant officer, social worker, police officer, etc., and you are an HSLDA member, call us immediately--while the official is still outside on your front porch. For those who have listed their street address, a friendly personal visit during socially acceptable hours would be highly appropriate.
