Imprisonment

2. California: Escaping the Threat of Jail

Family Protection Ministries, working in partnership with HSLDA, were
instrumental in defeating a proposal that would have eliminated very
important due process procedures in California's truancy laws.

3. Virginia: County Asks Religiously Exempt Family for Evidence of
Ability to Teach

HSLDA helped a member family with their religious exemption from
public school attendance when a public school representative made
unauthorized demands.

4. We Read the Constitution

On Saturday, September 18, "We Read the Constitution" will be hosting
hundreds of events across the country where the U.S. Constitution will

6. Student Photo Contest Results Posted

Names of students who were selected as winners in the 2010 HSLDA photo
contest have been posted. Contestants were asked to submit entries
illustrating one of three proverbs, according to age group. Winning
photos will be posted soon.

7. Student Video Contest Winners Announced

The results of HSLDA's inaugural student video competition are in!
Students were asked to submit short videos according to a pair of
themes--one per age group. Winners were then selected by an expert
panel and by an online vote.

8. Internet Commercial Video Contest Open to All Ages

HSLDA is excited to announce our inaugural commercial video contest!
Entries are being accepted through November 15. The purpose of this
contest is to create a viable commercial for HSLDA. This contest
differs from our student competitions in two main ways. Participation
is open to a wider range of entrants and the prizes are more
significant.
