HSLDA: Protect Parental Rights from Big Government

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

Through activist courts and the threat of ratifying the UN's
Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), big government intrudes
on families more and more. Already, the liberty of parents to direct
the upbringing of their children has greatly eroded in federal courts
and in such settings as public schools, local libraries, and your
doctor's office.

The traditional right of parents to make decisions for their children
(absent abuse or neglect) is now "substantially diminished" at the
federal level, and its demise is trickling down to the states. Only an
amendment to add this liberty to the text of the U.S. Constitution can
give back to our families the legal protections they deserve.

Please take action. Sign an online petition
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8867 to stop big government's
takeover of the family by supporting Senate Resolution 519 (which
opposes ratifying the CRC) and the Parental Rights Amendment to the
U.S. Constitution.

Pass It On!

Once you have signed on, please forward this email
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8868 to as many friends and family
as you can. Add this message to your Facebook account
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8869 . Or visit this page online
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8870 and use the "share" button to
add it to virtually any other social network.

Please take just a moment to spread the word. America's freedoms must
be protected before it is too late!

Sincerely,

Michael Farris
HSLDA Chairman

-> How long are you in for?

Some families are facing what seems like a lifelong commitment to
homeschooling, with children at both ends of the spectrum -- some
graduating and some just reaching school age. If you're going to
be "in" for a while, consider a lifetime membership with HSLDA.
It's a good deal for families with more than 10 years of
homeschooling ahead.
