====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== New York--Deadline Approaching Dear HSLDA Members, As many of you know, the Individualized Home Instruction Plan or "IHIP" is due to be submitted within four weeks from when you received the forms from your local school district or by August 15, whichever is later. Thus, if you received the IHIP form from your school district before July 15, you have until August 15 to submit your completed forms. If you didn't receive your packet of materials from your school district until after July 15, you have four weeks from the date you did receive the forms to return your IHIP. If you still have not received your packet of materials but have submitted your notice of intent, you are not legally required to submit an IHIP. However, we strongly recommend that you keep records of what you intend to do and even write out an IHIP for your own records. It is also a good idea to keep quarterly reports. This way you will be prepared for when (or if) your school district sends you the required IHIP packet. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us for further information. Under Section 100.10(d), each child's IHIP shall contain: 1. The child's name, age and grade level; 2. A list of the syllabi, curriculum materials, textbooks or plan of instruction to be used in each of the required subject listed in subdivision (e) of this section; 3. The dates for submission to the school district of the parents' quarterly reports as required in subdivision (g) of this section. These reports shall be spaced in even and logical periods; 4. The names of the individuals providing instruction. If your child is still compulsory attendance age and has not graduated from high school but will be attending college full-time (at least 12 semester hours a semester), you will need to indicate this on your IHIP.
