-> Can you look at the clouds and tell the direction of the wind?

An interesting phenomenon of wind is that it can blow in multiple
directions at the same time, at different heights from the ground.
But usually there is a prevailing wind. HSLDA watches the gusts
and monitors the prevailing trends of change in the legal climate
of home education. So no matter which way the wind is blowing,
we're there to protect your family.

A new study on homeschooled students in college reveals that
homeschoolers outperform their peers academically and post higher
graduation rates.

.....................................................................
2. DISCLOSE Act Halted: Victory for Free Speech!

Your calls helped prevent passage of a bill that would have severely
restricted free speech. HSLDA urges members to continue contacting
their U.S. senators, however, in case the legislation is revisited
after the August recess.

Read more about it at:
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8814

.....................................................................
3. South Dakota: Compulsory Attendance for 5-Year-Olds Starts This
Fall

Due to legislation enacted in 2006, starting this fall children who
are age 5 by September 1 will be of compulsory school age.

4. Senate to Vote This Week on Supreme Court Nominee

5. Illinois: Chicago Correcting "Mandatory Forms" Error

The attorney for Chicago Public Schools agreed to correct the school
system website after HSLDA pointed out erroneous information about
forms homeschoolers must submit.

.....................................................................
6. Parental Rights: Heat Things Up in August

Your activism is making a difference. If three more senators pledge to
support Senate Resolution 519, a coalition will be in place to block
attempts to ratify the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child.

http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8818

the season that you are in as a parent. Learn how to prepare for the
next season of parenting--whether your child is an infant or adult!
