====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== HSLDA: Opportunity to Help the Department of Education with Homeschool Research Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Over the past decade, the U.S. Department of Education has conducted research on the number of homeschoolers in the United States. This research has showed that homeschooling continues to grow, and has served as independent verification of HSLDA's own research that demonstrates the increasing number of homeschooling families. You can read the Department of Education's most recent report here: http://nces.ed.gov/pubs2009/2009030.pdf The Department of Education recently contacted HSLDA about increasing the quality and accuracy of homeschool research. The Department submitted the proposed questionnaire for homeschoolers to HSLDA for our review, and is also seeking input from local homeschooling families. If you live in the D.C. metro area, and are interested in attending a one-on-one meeting to review the proposed research questionnaire for homeschoolers, please see the following message: ------------------------------ The American Institutes for Research (AIR) is seeking parents who homeschool their children to participate in a 90-minute interview. AIR is helping the U.S. Department of Education develop surveys about children's care arrangements and education. We are looking for volunteers who are currently homeschooling a child age 5-17. The interview will last no longer than 90 minutes, and participants will be given $60 as a thank-you for their time.
