====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Virginia--Help Needed Before Crucial July 8 Religious Exemption Vote Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: A good religious exemption policy is scheduled for a final school board vote on Thursday, July 8. But one or more persons are agitating to derail the vote so they can buy time to pressure the board to alter the policy and make it more hostile toward homeschool families. All members of the public had an opportunity to put in their "two cents" worth at the June 10 board meeting. Changes to the draft were discussed and implemented at that time. Now it's time to move on and finish this job. We need an outpouring of support to urge the school board to vote in favor of the current version of the policy! ACTION REQUESTED Attend the board meeting this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Warren County Government Center. During the public comment period at the beginning of the meeting, step up to the lectern and urge the board to vote "yes" on the policy draft with no further changes. I plan to be there as well. If you cannot attend, use a personal visit, phone call or email to one or more school board members to ask them to vote "yes" on the religious exemption draft with no further changes. Thank you for standing with us for freedom! Sincerely, Scott A. Woodruff HSLDA Senior Counsel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Can you look at the clouds and tell the direction of the wind? An interesting phenomenon of wind is that it can blow in multiple directions at the same time, at different heights from the ground. But usually there is a prevailing wind. HSLDA watches the gusts and monitors the prevailing trends of change in the legal climate of home education. So no matter which way the wind is blowing, we're there to protect your family.
