====================================================================== H S L D A ' s W E E K L Y U P D A T E ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> How many acorns can a chipmunk hold in its cheeks? We don't know! But we do know that gathering little by little enables ordinary folks to prepare for hard times. That principle is behind HSLDA's payment plan: by paying a month at a time, families can receive an annual HSLDA membership. Meanwhile, they can feel secure as they homeschool and focus on other priorities -- their children. Don't go nuts trying to pay for membership all at once. Choose one of our convenient payment plans. Next week on HSLDA's @home e-vents... Do you have a child who tends to cover up the truth, habitually tell tall tales, or often fails to act in a straightforward manner? Join author, lecturer, father, and experienced biblical family counselor Lou Priolo for biblical help and hope on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 @ 9:00 P.M. (ET). Whether it's bearing false witness or simple exaggeration, there is much to say in the Bible about the matter of deception. Forthright and compassionate, Lou will assist you in identifying your child's unique style of lying and offer solid biblical solutions to help him or her both "lay aside falsehood" and become a habitual "speaker of the truth." Make sure to bring your specific questions for Lou in the Q&A session at the end of "Helping Children Who Lie." Think it's time for your college-bound high schooler to study for an Advanced Placement (AP) exam? How do you determine whether he or she is ready for the challenge? What's the best way to prepare? HSLDA High School Coordinators Becky Cooke and Diane Kummer bring you "How to Navigate the World of Advanced Placement (AP) Courses" to explain the effects of an AP course on your teen's GPA, the qualities your teen should possess before he or she is ready to take an AP course, the options available for taking a course, and more! If you're looking for insight and direction, join Becky and Diane on Thursday, July 15, 2010, @ 9:00 P.M. (ET) to find the answers to your questions. Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, @ 11:00 A.M. (ET), we have a free e-vent--this time just for members in the state of Mississippi! In "State Counsel: Home Instruction in Mississippi," HSLDA attorney Dewitt Black will explain the legal requirements for homeschooling in your state. Join us to ensure that you are up-to-date on how to successfully navigate relevant state policies and statutes so that you can homeschool with peace of mind. Prepare to participate, as Dee will take your specific questions about homeschooling in the Magnolia State during the Q&A portion of this e-vent. Don't miss these exciting e-vents!
