HSLDA: Exciting Lineup of Summer Camps

HSLDA: Exciting Lineup of Summer Camps

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

Is your teen artistic? Academically gifted? Seeking a vocation? Then
why not consider summer camp though Patrick Henry College or
Generation Joshua, where every year hundreds of teens develop their
talents, explore career options and forge lasting friendships--all in
a Christ-centered environment.

Camp tuition discounts are available to HSLDA members.

PHC CAMPS

PHC's Teen Leadership Camps http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8371
provide an exciting context for students to examine an academic
discipline and learn to apply a biblical worldview to the issues of
today. Classroom sessions are taught by Patrick Henry faculty and
other field experts, and field trips to nearby historical sites and
centers of American government enhance the camps' unique experience.
Campers can also expect to gain a taste of PHC life as they live in
the college residence halls, attend chapel, and interact with current
PHC students serving as camp staff.

Teen Leadership Camps are open to students who will be 14-18 years old
when camp begins. This year, PHC is offering nine tracks:

ANNOUNCING ART CAMP

New to the PHC camp lineup is the June 13-19 Art Camp. Leaders Tim
Chambers and Tracy Klicka, both homeschooling parents, are committed
to bringing Christian values to classical art.

Mr. Chambers http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8381 brings several
years of professional experience as a full-time portrait artist and
teacher to create an environment that encourages excellence and
creativity. Mrs. Klicka is also an accomplished artist with a focus on
journals.

Camp sessions will consist of a variety of exercises from observation
of still-life and portraiture with students working in charcoal and
oil. All skill levels are welcome.

GENERATION JOSHUA

GenJ's iGovern is the only camp where Christianity, real-world
politics, adventure, and wholesome fun are brought together to inspire
and challenge your child spiritually, educationally, and physically.

Campers take on the roles of congressmen--writing and passing
legislation, interacting with lobbyists and constituents, and
nominating and campaigning for their party's presidential
candidate--and see how difficult it can be, but how essential it is,
to live out their faith in real life. They will also hear from
inspiring speakers, go on exciting field trips, make friends and
memories.

-> Can you look at the clouds and tell the direction of the wind?

An interesting phenomenon of wind is that it can blow in multiple
directions at the same time, at different heights from the ground.
But usually there is a prevailing wind. HSLDA watches the gusts
and monitors the prevailing trends of change in the legal climate
of home education. So no matter which way the wind is blowing,
we're there to protect your family.
