Louisiana: Urgent--Please Act Now
to Help Pass Parental Rights Resolution

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

Tomorrow the Committee on Civil Law and Procedure in the Louisiana
House of Representatives will have a meeting at 10 a.m. in House
Committee Room 2. One of the items on the agenda will be Senate
Concurrent Resolution 38. This resolution urges Congress to adopt the
Parental Rights Amendment.

As many of you already know, the Parental Rights Amendment would put
into the text of the Constitution the principle that parental rights
are fundamental and can only be interfered with by governmental
officials in the least restrictive means possible. The Parental Right
Amendment would also protect against the UN Convention on the Rights
of the Child.

Please call the Committee on Civil Law and Procedure members listed
below. Your calls and emails are needed to urge the committee to pass
this resolution. SCR 38 has already passed the Senate and with your
help could be sent to the House floor!

ACTION SUGGESTED:

Please contact as many of the committee members listed below as you
can. If you are not able to contact all of the members listed below,
then contact the members as follows: If your last name begins with
A-M, please contact Rep. Burns through Rep. Johnson; if your last name
begins with N-Z, please contact Rep. LaBruzzo through Rep. Willmott as
well as the chairman, Rep. Burns. Please call or email them at the
addresses below (or both) and give them this message in your own
words:

"Please support the Parental Right Amendments Resolution and vote in
favor of SCR 38. While the U.S. Supreme Court has recognized in a long
line of cases that parents have a fundamental right to direct the
upbringing and education of their children, I believe we need to
recognize this right in the text of U.S. Constitution. Thank you for
your support of parental rights."
