====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== New Hampshire: Final Proposal Released! Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Thank you for your diligent efforts this year to defend homeschooling freedom in the Granite State. The approved final proposal of the State Board of Education for the home education rules is now available on the Department of Education's website at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8201. Providentially, only minor changes to the homeschool law were made. This proposal must now be reviewed by the Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules (JLCAR). If the Department of Education meets their submission deadline, the proposal will be on the JLCAR's agenda for their meeting on May 21. After reviewing the proposal, the JLCAR will send it back to the Board for final adoption. This will likely take place sometime in June. View a flowchart of the rulemaking process at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8202 . There appear to be still some additional changes that must be made to the rules so that they accurately reflect the homeschool law as amended in 2006. The Home Education Advisory Council will be reviewing which additional changes must be made at its next meeting on Tuesday, May 11, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 12 at the Department of Education. We will continue to work with CHENH and other homeschool groups to monitor the rulemaking process and will keep you informed of any significant proposed changes. Finally, if you haven't yet registered for CheNH's annual conference I encourage you to do so. This year's keynote speaker, Terry Maxwell, is a great friend of the homeschooling family with simply outstanding content that will inspire and equip you. The conference has personally been a blessing to me and my family, and I encourage you not to miss this event! Go to http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8205 for more information. And of course, you can always join HSLDA or renew your membership at the conference. Thank you again for your continual efforts to defend freedom in New Hampshire! Standing with you, Michael P. Donnelly, Esq. HSLDA Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Will your children's inheritance retain its value? If you pass on a legacy of freedom, your children and their children's children will thank you. But freedom is never secure; it must always be guarded. Membership with HSLDA is an investment in the future that can be passed on to future generations of families wanting to teach their children at home.
