2. California: Summary of Changes to Student Work Permit Laws

Beginning January 1, 2010, all public and private school principals
who self-certify that they understand the laws related to work permits
may issue work permits to students enrolled in their schools.

3. Romania: First Homeschool Conference Held

The first homeschooling conference for Romanian-speaking people took
place recently in Arad, Romania, near the Hungarian border. The event
was a big step forward in efforts to fully legalize home education.

4. Home School Foundation: Mexican Homeschool Conference a Success

HSLDA's charitable arm provided funds for El Hogar Educador's first
homeschool conference in central Mexico--which drew 640 families from

6. Homeschooling Thru High School: Summer Enrichment

The summer is a wonderful opportunity to provide educational and
enrichment opportunities for your teens. Plan now to check out music,
art, drama, and other classes that your local community center or
community colleges may offer. Other ideas include swim team
participation or group golf lessons (consider counting these hours as
phys ed credit). Elective courses taken in the summer will help you
to lighten your load during the school year.

7. Last Chance to Become a 2010 National Bible Bee Host!

Only three days remain until the April 23 host application deadline.
Join the scores of men and women across the nation who have committed
to mobilizing family discipleship by hosting a Local Bible Bee Contest

8. Generation Joshua Director to Speak at May Day

Will Estrada, director of Generation Joshua and HSLDA's Federal
Relations Department, has been invited to lead prayer for
homeschooling from 9-10 a.m. at the upcoming May Day National Prayer
event. This day of prayer, repentance, and reflection will be held at
the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 1, 2010,
from sunrise to 2 p.m. We encourage you and your family to join Will

9. Patrick Henry College Teen Camp Registration Opens

Hundreds of high schoolers attend Patrick Henry College teen camps
every summer, and several new camps will expand the college's
repertoire in exciting ways. This summer's round-up of camps include:
