~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Home School Foundation Report ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Friends of the Home School Foundation, Some new and exciting things are happening here at the Foundation. We have a new website which will enable us to further help homeschoolers in need and spread the reach of the Foundation. There are always new people contacting us for help or to learn how to get involved, and we are preparing to launch a new volunteer program this summer. At the same time, we are looking for ways to identify more widows in need and for additional ways to spread the word about how God is using HSF to help families homeschool through hard times. We covet your prayers and thank you for partnering with us in this work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Because You Helped We continually receive letters and notes from homeschooling families who have been blessed by our grants. Identity will only be by first name and state. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Patrick Henry College Scholarship for HSLDA Members Accepting Applications The Foundation's Patrick Henry College Scholarship for HSLDA Members rewards academic excellence and exemplary leadership through tuition scholarships to Patrick Henry College http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=8032 , a Christian liberal arts school located in Purcellville, Virginia. HSF is accepting applications through May 14 for the 2010/2011 school year. Eligible students must be full-time freshmen at PHC who are part of an HSLDA member family (who have been members for at least four years), have a high school record of outstanding academic achievement and community service, and need financial assistance. The Foundation is preparing to launch our new "Ambassadors Program" that will coordinate volunteers all over the country to help homeschoolers in their local community who are in need--whether it be fixing a widow's roof, helping a single mom clean up her yard, or putting together backpacks of school supplies for needy homeschool kids. Stay tuned over the summer for more information as the program develops. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grants We Are Seeking As a part of our funding efforts, the Foundation seeks grants from other private foundations whose missions overlap ours. For instance, we have projects that are primarily educational in nature, and there are other foundations who share an interest in helping us fund these projects. Please pray that God will give us favor as we reach out to other foundations. If you know of foundations that might share our vision or like-minded foundation board members, please let us know; we will be delighted to share with them the opportunities for becoming involved with HSF. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Upcoming Poetry Contest Helps Special Needs Children As you may know, the proceeds from the contests HSLDA sponsors throughout the year go to help the Home School Foundation's Special Needs Fund. Consequently, we want to promote these opportunities for homeschool students to develop their skills and abilities. The poetry contest is coming up with submission dates of May 1- June 1.
