====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Louisiana: Urgent--Your Action Needed to Support Bill Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: We need your emails right now to the members of the House Education Committee to urge them to support House Bill 936. This bill would repeal the requirement that home study parents provide evidence that their 11-year-olds have been immunized against meningococcal disease. Current law requires approved home study programs to provide to the Department of Education evidence that their children have received this immunization. We do not believe home study parents should have to provide any evidence of their children's immunizations to the Department of Education. House Bill 936 is going to be heard in the House Education Committee this morning. We understand that Representative Baldone, the sponsor of House bill 936, is confident that he will be able to pass it out of the House Education Committee, but we would like to have as many people as possible contact the committee members to help ensure the bill is passed out of committee. Please call now. ACTION SUGGESTED: 1.) Please call or email the committee members listed below and give them the following message in your own words: "Please support House Bill 936. This bill would remove home study parents from having to provide personal immunization information to the Department of Education. Home study parents should not have to provide their children's medical information; instead, this should be between them and their doctor. If your last name ends in A-H contact the first six committee members. I-P contact the next six committee members and Q-Z please contact the remaining five committee members. While the evidence that is currently being accepted is a simply check mark that your child has received this immunization, we do not believe that a parent should have to provide any information on their child's immunizations to the Department of Education. House Bill 936 would fix this and removed home study parents from this additional reporting requirement.
