1. Education Savings Accounts Still Present Problem

Homeschoolers are still being discriminated against by rules governing
Education Saving Accounts, despite efforts by HSLDA to have these
federal laws changed.

2. Consumer Product Safety Commission Update

Many homeschoolers were concerned last year when the Consumer Product
Safety Commission (CPSC) issued new restrictive rules about lead and
chemicals in products. Congress and the CPSC have been working on
lessening this burden on small family businesses. An independent
organization, Product Safety Letter, has put together a 30-question
survey on proposed legislation and is seeking input from small
businesses, consumers, and trade organizations. If this issue is of
interest to you, we encourage you to take a few minutes to complete
the survey. The deadline to complete the survey is March 31, 2010.

4. Brazil: Couple Receive Criminal Conviction for Homeschooling

Despite the fact that his children passed difficult government imposed
tests, and even qualified for law school at the ages of 13 and 14,
homeschooler Cleber Nunes and his wife Bernadeth have been slapped
with fines equivalent to $3,200 for refusing to submit their children
to the Brazilian school system. (LifeSiteNews.com)

8. National Bible Bee Extends Host Application Deadline

There is still time to help families strengthen their relationships
with Jesus Christ. The National Bible Bee is seeking hosts to lead and
prepare families for local Bible Bee contests, which will be held
across the nation on August 28, 2010. Hosts organize a team of
volunteers to support families as they invest in Bible study,
Scripture memorization and prayer throughout the summer, and to
organize the Local Contest which challenges contestants' Bible memory
and Bible knowledge. The top-scoring 100 contestants from three age
divisions will be invited to compete in the National Bible Bee Contest
in November for prizes totaling $260,000.

10. Next week on HSLDA's @home e-vents...

Climbing trees, finding bugs, dirty hands used for big hugs--oh, the
joys of raising boys! But how do we raise these boys in such a way
that they become real men of God? More specifically, how do we raise
real men in a culture that is intent on blurring the lines between
male and female?

On Tuesday, April 6, @ 9:00 p.m. (ET), veteran homeschooling leaders
and parents Hal and Melanie Young answer these questions in their
@home e-vent, Raising Real Men. The Youngs share how it is more
crucial than ever that Christian fathers and mothers make an
intentional and counter-cultural move to raise real men to serve God,
family, and country in the challenging years ahead. Don't miss your
chance to hear Hal and Melanie explain the threat to our boys'
masculine identity and the biblical solution--as well as the
opportunity to train real leaders for the next generation.

FREE E-VENTS

Later in the week, we have three e-vents that are free to HSLDA
members! In each of these state-specific e-vents, the HSLDA attorney
