====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== March 1, 2010 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m., the Oklahoma City Council will be going into session to consider a variety of matters. Among them is a new truancy and daytime curfew ordinance. The ordinance would allow children to be temporarily detained by any peace officer or school official and taken into temporary custody if the child is found outside of a school during school hours. An exception is made for children that are home schooled, but there is no explanation as to how a police officer or school official would know that a child fell into that exception. Please consider attending the Council meeting and voicing your opinion of this law. A link to the proposed ordinance is below. http://hslda.org/elink.asp?ID=7774 The meeting will take place at 200 N. Walker, Oklahoma City, OK, on the 3rd floor. Tj Schmidt HSLDA Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> You can only do so much...
