Virginia--Protect Loudoun County Library Funding

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

Homeschoolers love libraries!

But there is a proposal to cut Loudoun library funding. It would
force Loudoun public libraries to be closed on Sundays and one
additional day, and eliminate other programs and staff positions,
according to Scott Stewart, chairman of the Loudoun County Public
Library Board of Trustees.

If your family enjoys convenient access to public library books,
computers, books on tape, meeting rooms, etc., consider donating two
minutes of your time to speak to the County Board of Supervisors on
Feb. 24 (today) at 3:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. (in the Supervisor's Board
Room in Leesburg), or on Feb. 27 at 9:30 a.m. (at the School
Administration Building in Brambleton, next to Clyde's off Exit 5 of
the Greenway).

To speak, you must call Ann Stewart during business hours at (703)
771-5072 and request a speaking slot. You do not need to be eloquent.
Just speak from your heart.

A reduction in hours of the public libraries would fall
disproportionately on homeschoolers. Our kids don't have access to
public school libraries. Public libraries are a clean, safe, friendly,
convenient place for our kids to "get away from it all" while
remaining in atmosphere conducive to learning. If the public library
has helped you, please consider helping the library.

For more information, call Scott Stewart, (703) 729-3135.

Sincerely,

Scott Woodruff
HSLDA Senior Counsel
