1. Senate Tied up in Health Care Debate

The health care bill being debated in the U.S. Senate has designated
$1.1 billion to fund expanded government home visitation programs.
This provision poses a huge threat to parental rights and could be
voted on at any time.

2. Coming Soon: Chris Klicka's Inspiring Journal of Strength

Shepherd Press and Home School Legal Defense Association will be
working together to produce "Power Perfected in Weakness" by
Christopher Klicka, from the unfinished manuscript submitted just
before his death. The book journals how the Lord showed his grace as
Chris lived with the increasing debilitation of multiple sclerosis in
his full and busy life.

3. Clicks for Homeschooling: Give While You Shop

Here's a great way to help homeschoolers any time you shop online:
purchase materials from a company that gives to the Home School
Foundation. All you have to do is go to Clicks for Homeschooling and
click on the link to the store of your choice. Then you shop just like
normal, and the store will give a percentage of what you spend to the
Foundation. The Clicks program annually generates over $30,000 in
donations to the Foundation's Compassion Fund.

4. Register Now for Spring Constitutional Law Online

Students are now able to register for the spring semester of
Constitutional Law Online, taught by Michael Farris, HSLDA Chairman
and Chancellor of Patrick Henry College. Registration ends the first
day of class, January 4, 2010. The course concludes June 7, 2010.

If you've always wanted to learn more about the history and background
of our legal system, from a biblical perspective, or if you're looking
for a good U.S. government class for your homeschooled students, then
this class is for you! This internet-based course follows Michael
Farris' textbook, "Constitutional Law for Enlightened Citizens," and
uses a computer-based audio CD-ROM to deliver the "classroom"
lectures. Live chat-room discussions held every two weeks allow
students to pose questions to Dr. Farris.

posted. Original entries will be accepted beginning New Year's Day.

6. "Home School Heartbeat": Homeschooling as Discipleship

In homeschooling, you don't have to make time to disciple your child's
heart--you have the unsurpassed opportunity to interact with him
daily. This week, Mike Smith talks with a homeschool graduate about
her parents' positive influence, and a homeschooling parent team who
share what discipleship means in their family.
