====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Rhode Island--North Kingstown Tables New Homeschool Policy Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: We have come a long way since September 22 when I wrote to you that a homeschooler was visited by a truant officer merely for refusing to have an in-person meeting with a school official. In response to this threat, and in response to the school committee changing their policy without notice to increase demands on homeschoolers, Amy Brock of Rhode Island Guild of Home Teachers has lead an effort to restore sanity to North Kingstown policy. I am keeping in close communication with Amy about all proposed changes to the policy. A revised policy was on the agenda for the school committee meeting last week, but it was tabled pending further changes. We hope for progress at the next school committee meeting. Scott A. Woodruff, Esq. HSLDA Senior Counsel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Can you look at the clouds and tell the direction of the wind? An interesting phenomenon of wind is that it can blow in multiple directions at the same time, at different heights from the ground. But usually there is a prevailing wind. HSLDA watches the gusts and monitors the prevailing trends of change in the legal climate of home education. So no matter which way the wind is blowing, we're there to protect your family.
