Second Annual "A Call to Pens" Contest Writers are the unacknowledged legislators of mankind, and Patrick Henry College is once again inviting young writers to answer that call--more specifically, "A Call to Pens." The college's second annual short story competition for students ages 12-18 invites aspiring young writers to pen original works of fiction that thoughtfully reflect a Christian perspective. Several cash prizes will be awarded to top writers in each division. The entry deadline is December 30, 2009. "Court Report" Magazine: Parent to Parent Submissions Wanted Have you ever had an inspiring thought, an ingenious shortcut, or an "Aha! moment" that you wished you could share with other homeschoolers? Well, now you can! The "Home School Court Report's" Parent to Parent column provides opportunities for homeschooling parents to relay teaching tips, encouragement and advice. The January/February Parent to Parent column will discuss the art of writing the handwritten note. Whether they're "thank yous" or "I love yous," handwritten notes can be very meaningful. How do you encourage your kids to create them? Send us your submission by November 6, 2009.
